About This Calculator

This tool provides a simplified Elo-based estimate for USCF ratings. The actual USCF system is Glicko-based and includes bonus points, rating floors, and special rules. Results are approximate only.

For Players Without USCF

If you don't have a USCF rating, the system can use estimated starting / performance value calculation logic based on rated opponents and match results. The actual US Chess system may include additional rules such as provisional starting ratings, game counts, bonuses, and special coefficients. Therefore, results are approximate only.

How USCF Rating Works

Expected Score:

E = 1 / (1 + 10^((Rb - Ra) / 400))

New Rating:

R'a = Ra + K × (S - E)

This tool uses simplified K-factors: K=32 for under 2100, K=24 for 2100–2400, K=16 for 2400+. The actual USCF system takes effective game count and special formulas into account.
