About This Calculator

This calculator provides an ELO-based preliminary calculation for ECF rating changes. The official ECF rating is finalised in accordance with the English Chess Federation's applicable evaluation and publication rules.

For Players Without ECF

For players without an ECF rating, the tool can show a starting performance based on results against rated opponents. The official starting rating is subject to ECF's applicable game count and evaluation rules.

How ECF Rating Works

Expected Score:

E = 1 / (1 + 10^((Rb - Ra) / 400))

New Rating:

R'a = Ra + K × (S - E)

Simplified coefficients used in this tool: K=40 for players who have not yet completed 30 games, K=20 for established players. The official ECF system follows standard ELO calculations.
