This calculator uses the ECF rating formula of the English Chess Federation. Since 2020, ECF has adopted the ELO-based rating system replacing the older grading system.
If you don't have an ECF rating, the system can use estimated starting / performance value calculation logic based on rated opponents and match results. The official ECF system may include additional rules and special evaluation methods for new or unrated players. Therefore, results are approximate only.

ECF uses K=40 for new players (under 30 games) and K=20 for established players. The system follows standard ELO calculations.
